There are several ways in which variety of industries can analyse their product before committing to any processes, one of them is the product life cycle assessment. For example Upton development and further developments could link their designs with RIBA plan of works, Urban Design Compedium and Life cycle assessment. Further development of Upton could analyse the use of its raw materials, the kind of environmental input and outputs of energy sources and also economical inputs and outputs associated with the environment. Looking at those questions can be asked whether they're looking at the best options, some data can be pulled from various sites of materials manufactures and other processes to ensure that the developers are choosing the most efficient, economical and environmental friendly option. It creates awareness in the industry, build

environment covers majority of carbon emissions in the UK, its important that during their designing process, construction and in use we also consider end use. What happens to the site when we move on, will Upton remain as is and does it have any potential legacy. This kind of thinking process is what the developers need to think about, building for future rather than for now. All industries can focus to reduce, reuse, recycle and recover their resources. That way we are not just creating to satisfy our current needs but the needs of generations to come. Certainly the legislations have had a successful impact on developments such as Upton, passive solar house designs and use south facing glazing can be easily spotted around the community.
